In writing stories about a little box turtle named Henry Lee, I called upon the fun times I had with my family, and friends growing up as a child. As far back as I can remember, I always liked the outdoors, and outdoor events like sports, spelunking, hiking, and fishing. As a kid, I was in the Boy Scout program. The Scouting program exposed me to the wonders of nature. I was fascinated by the creatures that lived in the forest, lakes, streams, and rivers not far from my home. In Henry Lee’s case, his stories rekindle experiences and adventures I had with family and friends. Even if you, as a kid, did not have a chance to go exploring or find adventure, Henry Lee takes you there with him.
